Meet the Blogger

I desperately searched for a “Meet the Blogger” tag I could jump in on, but they all seemed to revolve around blogging. How long have you been blogging? What’s your favorite thing about blogging? And so on… Sure, I could go in detail about my blogging journey, but does that actually help you get to know the woman behind Bibliophile’s Binge? So, here comes my own “Meet the Blogger” post; scroll down to see some bloggers I’d love to see participate! read

Name: Bethany
Age: 26
Education: B.A. in Public Relations and Advertising and M.S. in Higher Education Administration
Location: South Carolina, USA
Job: Student Affairs Professional
These are a few of your favorite things: Fresh flowers. Books (obvs). Dresses with pockets. Baking. Meal planning and grocery shopping (is that weird?). Farmers markets.
Is there a story behind your blog’s name? I originally started trying to think of alliterations using my name; you know, Bethany, books, bibliophile, etc. After talking to a good friend, however, we thought that may not be super recognizable and decided to go with something a bit more branded. I love wine, in particular, and loved the idea of playing on the whole book binge, book hangover, imagery to add a fun twist to my brand and reviews!
What are you looking forward to right now? I just moved to a new state and there are so many cool places within two hours of me. I’m looking forward to taking a few, small weekend trips to explore my new home!
Favorite Ice Cream: Ben and Jerry’s P&B and Cookies (dairy-free)!
Coffee or Tea? And how do you take it? I prefer tea and I usually take it with nothing in it–but somethings I’ll add a touch of sugar, if I need something sweeter.
Favorite Thing To Do On a Rainy Day: Either curl up with a good book and a cup of hot tea…or go see a move by myself! Both are so refreshing and it’s nice to spend time with myself.
Favorite Movies: Singin’ in the Rain and Pretty Woman–I could watch either over and over again!
Favorite Books: Pride and Prejudice, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, A Thousand Splendid Suns, A Widow for One Year, and The Phantom Tollbooth
One Item on Your Bucket List: I’ve completed a few on my list: skydiving, run a half marathon, get a masters degree. Something that’s still left is to travel Europe as an adult–I lived there in high school, but it’s different to travel with your parents.
Scariest Thing You’ve Ever Done: Last summer, while on vacation in Hawaii, I went swimming with sharks in the open ocean…without a cage! Thinking back, I can’t believe I jumped in so quickly, but at the time, it was actually quite peaceful and so cool to see them in their natural environment.
Fun Fact or Two: I don’t know how to ride a bike. I didn’t learn to drive until I was 22. I lived in Germany for four years.

    1. Ugh, it’s my favorite and I can’t seem to find it in grocery stores anymore! And do it! I’ve completed two–but to be completely honest, I didn’t quite train well for either of them, so I know I can do better! (I’ve signed up for another in November, so we’ll see how that goes!)

    1. Thank you! It was so much fun! For whatever reason, I wasn’t nervous and just went for it–the adrenaline really kicks in!

  1. It’s nice to meet you, Bethany! I love the story behind how you chose your blog’s name (and I love the name, too, so win-win!) You’re one of those weird tea-drinkers, though! Oh, no! Well, I suppose that just means more coffee for me. 😉

    1. Thanks, Sammie! I thought it was a fun play on words for sure–and I’m super happy how all my graphics turned out! Haha, I definitely can drink cups and cups of tea–but I also definitely go to Starbucks for a latte when needed!
